2nd Amendment and Constitutional Carry

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The WV constitution, Art. III, § 22 reads:  "A person has the right to keep and bear arms for the defense of self, family, home and state, and for lawful hunting and recreational use."

I believe that the right to bear arms is an inalienable right and shall not be infringed. The federal government has created many infringements and history has proven that they have failed. No one has the right to restrict your ability to defend you life!

The more gun regulation we have the more mass shootings and terrorist attacks we have had. Is it curious that most of these happen in states with the strictest gun regulations? California, Colorado, your gun laws haven't helped, they have just made it dangerous for your citizens! When a criminal knows  their victim  will not be armed, that is the victim they will choose. "Gun Free" zones should just be posted "Criminals, we have disarmed them for you". Gun laws prevent the honest citizen from defending themselves. Criminals DO NOT OBEY THE LAW!

I support the right of a person to own and carry a firearm for defense of self and others! I am proud to have stood with the WVCDL and helped fight to pass CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY. This fight was the deciding factor for me to run for sheriff. After watching many sheriff's and deputies stand against constitutional carry, ( including Berkeley County sheriff, Kenny Leemaster)

You should not have to pay a fee and take a course to exercise a right! I will also not tolerate the federal government trampling on your rights. I will prevent and  arrest any federal agent who tries to enforce any federal gun law, that is not constitutional or that violates the sovereignty of West Virginia!
